Our mooring for the night at Theale . With moorings being in short supply and all the visitor moorings full we have to get in were ever we can.
After pulling pins at 08.15 its off again . The canal which at this point is The Kennet river is certainly full of challenges , With side flows and waterfalls coming at you from all directions. We are getting one or two scratches on the hull which i will have to touch up at a later date.
This is the entrance to the notoriously difficult lock at Woolhampton. It has one of the strongest currents coming in from the side that we have ever encountered. There was only one thing to do and that was to give it plenty of wellie and just go as fast as we could. You can see by the amount of tyres protecting the moored boats how difficult it is.With Carolyn shouting instructions to me from the lock landing we eventually made it in one piece.

We eventually arrive in Newbury and are surprised to find all the 48 hour moorings empty at Victoria park. Well that's good news for us and we will now have a couple of days here . Although with all those shops i guess i wont be seeing a lot of Carolyn.
