Our mooring at Fox’ gate is on a long straight and luckily for most of the time we have had it all to ourselves. But the one big disadvantage about being on a long straight is speeding boats. Its started to get busy again and as we are close to several big marinas there are a lot of boats moving about. The rule is when approaching moored boats you should slow down to tick over 2 to 3 boat lengths before reaching the moored boat, and then pass on tick over. But for some reason most of the boats do slow ,but not until they reach the moored boat and then not always on tick over when passing. We have had to put springs on our mooring to stop us getting bumped about. I'm not sure why so many people are in a hurry, I Can see no reason what so ever to speed on canals, Its all about enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the canals and a slower pace of life…Rant over (For now)
